The Crime Prevention Unit gives presentations at community meetings and local school activities. On a weekly basis, the Crime Prevention Officer gives tours of the police station to students who attend the schools in the Oceanside Unified School District. When requested, tours are provided to students from foreign countries who want to learn more about policing in America.

The unit also encourages suggestions from community leaders on how the Police Department can improve its level of customer service. The Crime Prevention staff is proud to receive positive feedback from people whose lives have benefited from members of the team.

The Neighborhood Watch Block Captains Association meets the fourth Tuesday of each month at the Library/ Police Facility Community Room, 3855 Mission Avenue in Oceanside, at 6:30 p.m. The meetings are open to all residents of Oceanside.
