The Oceanside Police Department is seeking qualified individuals to join its budgeted team of 212 sworn officers. The City of Oceanside is a diverse beach community of approximately 170,000 residents located in north San Diego County, California.

Specialized Assignments include:
Motorcycle Officer, K9 Officer, Field Training Officer, School Resource Officer, Downtown/Beach Patrol, SWAT, Vice/Narcotic Investigation, Gang Investigation, Violent Crimes Investigation, Property Crimes Investigation, Family Protection Unit, D.U.I./S.T.O.P. Team, Traffic Accident Investigation, Psychological Emergency Response Team.

Retirement and Benefits include:
3% @ 50; city pays 9% of employee contribution to retirement plan; EPMC; $100 per month bilingual premium; paid vacation; 13 holidays paid annually; 12 sick days accrued annually; deferred compensation plan; $545 per month provided for health, dental, and vision plans; $3,170 annually tuition reimbursement; $675 annual uniform allowance; pay equivalent to 4 hours weekly for FTO, K9, and Motorcycle officers; shift differential; $100 per month for intermediate California POST certificate, $250 per month for advanced California POST certificate.

Requirements:
Police Officer Entry: Candidates must possess a high school diploma (or GED), a valid class C driver’s license, and be willing to work overtime, rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays.

Police Officer Lateral: Candidates must possess a high school diploma (or GED), a valid class C driver’s license, and be willing to work overtime, rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays. Lateral Police Officers must also possess an active California POST Basic Certificate at time of appointment.
