Lieutenant John Anderson has been a member of the Oceanside Police Department since January 1989, following three years at the San Anselmo Police Department.

During his diverse career, Lieutenant Anderson held a variety of assignments throughout the Police Department. He has worked patrol as a Field Training Officer, Defensive Tactics Instructor, Range staff and K-9 handler, and worked General Investigations as a Narcotics Detective and Property Crimes Detective. Lieutenant Anderson was on the POA Board of Directors for twelve years and served as Chairman for 4 years.

When promoted to Sergeant he worked in the Special Enforcement Section where he supervised the Gang Unit and the Narcotics/Vice Unit. He later promoted to Lieutenant and is currently assigned to General Investigations.

Lieutenant Anderson holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from California Coast University. He and his wife Sophia have been married for 25 years and have two children.
