Safety Reminders and Road Closures for July 3-4, 2025

Post Date:07/03/2025 3:08 PM

The Oceanside Police Department reminds residents and visitors to celebrate safely and responsibly during this year’s Fourth of July holiday. Additional officers will be deployed across the city on July 3 and 4, with a focus on the beach, harbor, and downtown areas.

The City of Oceanside will host its annual fireworks display and drone show on Thursday, July 3 at the SoCal Soccer Complex at El Corazon. The show is scheduled to begin at 9:00 p.m. and is expected to draw a large crowd. Please note that there will be no fireworks display on July 4 within city limits.

Traffic and Road Closures

Traffic control measures may be in effect during the holiday to support pedestrian safety and manage congestion:

  • On July 3, Rancho Del Oro Drive, between Oceanside Blvd. and Mesa Dr. will be closed to vehicle traffic from approximately 8:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.
  • On July 4, The Strand will be closed to vehicle traffic between Wisconsin Avenue and Breakwater Way from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
  • Harbor Access: Westbound traffic on Harbor Drive (between North Coast Highway and Harbor Drive North) may be restricted from 8:30 p.m. to midnight due to fireworks at Del Mar Beach aboard Camp Pendleton. Entry to the harbor from Carmelo Drive may also be restricted during these hours.

Parking Enforcement

All standard parking regulations will be enforced throughout the holiday, with the exception of street sweeping and two-hour parking zones. Visitors are encouraged to observe all posted signage.

Safety Zone and Fines

The area west of the railroad tracks to the ocean, including the beach and harbor, from Carlsbad to Camp Pendleton, is designated as a Safety Zone on July 4. Under City Ordinance 1.7(i), fines for municipal code violations within this area will be tripled. Violations include, but are not limited to:

  • Possession or consumption of alcohol on the beach
  • Glass beverage containers
  • Diving or jumping from the pier
  • Dogs on the beach or pier (except service animals)

Fireworks Prohibited

All fireworks, including sparklers and other novelty items, are prohibited in the City of Oceanside. Possession or use may result in a fine of up to $1,000. The Oceanside Police Department encourages residents to report illegal fireworks by calling the non-emergency line at (760) 435-4900.

The Oceanside Police Department thanks the community for its cooperation and continued partnership in keeping our city safe.
