Lieutenant Brazelton was born in Oceanside and raised in Vista.  He graduated from Vista High School in 1988.  He received a Bachelors of Science in Administration of Justice from California Lutheran University in 1992.  Lt. Brazelton graduated from the 30^th Regional Academy in September of 1995 and began his career as a Police Officer for the City of Oceanside. 

Lieutenant Brazelton has served in a variety of assignments including Patrol, the Neighborhood Enhancement Team and was a Detective in the Property Crimes Unit.  He served as a Field Training Officer, a Drug Recognition Expert Instructor and D.U.I. instructor. 

In 2002, Brazelton was promoted to Corporal, and promoted again to Sergeant in 2011.  As a Sergeant, he was assigned to Patrol, Support Operations and Special Operations.  As the Support Operations Sergeant, he oversaw the Field Training Program and the School Resource Officers.  In Special Operations, Lieutenant Brazelton supervised the Homeless Outreach Team, Crime Suppression Team, Encampment Team and the Psychiatric Emergency Response Team. 

In 2023, Lieutenant Brazelton was promoted to his current rank and is currently assigned to Special Operations in the Community Services Division.
