Lieutenant Kevin Wilson was born and raised in Los Angeles County and subsequently attended high school in South Lake Tahoe, California.  Upon graduating, he attended San Diego State University, where he received his Bachelor’s degree in Geography and Geographic Information Systems in 2002.  Lieutenant Wilson worked for an area defense contractor and subsequently obtained his Master of Business Administration Degree from California State University, San Marcos. He moved to Oceanside with his family in 2005, was hired by the City of Oceanside, and attended the 72nd Regional Police Academy. He was sworn in as a Police Officer in October 2007.

Lieutenant Wilson worked patrol and served as a K9 Handler for nine years with K9s Atlas, Talik, and Reya during that time.  Additionally, Lieutenant Wilson has collaterally served as a Terrorism Liaison Officer and Peer Support Officer. 

In February 2022, he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant. As a Sergeant, he served as a supervisor for patrol, the Professional Standards Unit, and K9 Unit. 

In February 2025, he was promoted to his current rank of Lieutenant and is assigned to the Patrol Division.
