Born and raised in Northern New York, Lieutenant Harold Farney holds a bachelor’s degree from Ashford University. He began his law enforcement journey in 2004 at the 61st Regional Police Academy and joined the Oceanside Police Department the following year. 

Throughout his career, Lieutenant Farney has served in a variety of assignments, including Patrol, the Gang Suppression Unit, and as a Detective in the Special Enforcement Section. He also dedicated nearly 17 years to the department’s SWAT Team, serving both as an operator and team leader.

Promoted to Sergeant in February 2018, he went on to serve as a Patrol Sergeant and later as the department’s Training and Logistics Sergeant. In May 2025, he achieved the rank of Lieutenant and currently oversees the Patrol Division.
